Who we are

Heiner’s Bakery first opened its doors in 1966, when it was owned by Heiner and Edith Litschke. The business operated and grew for many years, until finally, Edith and Heiner Litschke passed the family business on to their son Micheal and his wife Jackie. The bakery has become somewhat of an institution in Myrtleford, and when Micheal and Jackie decided to sell the business in 2013, we were quick to take over and help a whole new generation of locals enjoy the wonderful bakery that was created so many years ago.

Current owners Nick and Kerry Versteegen have operated the business since 2013, with Nick having a long history with Heiner’s Bakery. He began his baker’s apprenticeship in 1992 and was trained by both Heiner and Micheal Litschke during his career. In fact, baking is in Nick’s blood, with his father and grandfather also proud bakers.

A traditional bakery experience

Because Heiner’s Bakery has been a part of our local community for so long, we’re proud to remain a traditional, old-fashioned country bakery. With a beautiful selection of bread, pies, freshly made salad rolls, cakes and slices as well as hot and cold drinks and ice cream, we’ve got everything your heart could desire!

Dine in and let the kids play on the playground. Take advantage of our amenities. You can enjoy your baked treats in either our indoor or outdoor seated areas, and of course, we offer takeaways too. We’re committed to delivering old-fashioned service with delicious, modern bakery items that our customers love.

Creating an experience

We know that we offer a terrific range of baked goods. There really is something for everybody. But that’s only a small part of what we do.

At Heiner’s Bakery, we want everybody who visits to have a great experience. Whether it’s for a takeaway coffee or a sit-down meal with friends, we want all of our customers to walk away with a smile.
